I had the distinct pleasure of being invited to the super exclusive screening of the new Barbie™ in the Pink Shoes movie. Having grown up with Barbie, I, a girl, was tickled "pink" to have the chance to sneak a peak. My guest, however, screamed when told he couldn't bring his sword into a room full of tutus. Although he was quickly tickled "prince" when he put on his cape and crown and together we pranced to the premiere.
The event was held at the stunning National Ballet School of Canada. Tutus, and pirouettes in ever corner. Pink tulle, pink ribbon, pink shoes, pink popcorn, pink lemonade, pink balloons, and pink cheeks with the excitement of having a photo taking with Barbie. It was a little ballerina's dream.
We were whisked into a top secret theater as the first audience to watch the Barbie™ in the Pink Shoes movie. Which, aside from all the attention, was the Prince's favourite part. I left everything behind and escaped into a world of childhood nostalgia. The shoes, the dresses, the hair, the dancing, it was everything a girl could want in a movie. Seated next to me was a boy who jumped to his feet to protect Barbie against the evil Snow Queen. An enemy - everything he ever wants in a movie.
For Prince and Princesses alike, this movie is one for the collection. In fact, you can pack the others away for awhile. This one will be in high rotation (4 times in two days...with sword this time.)

Barbie™ in the Pink Shoes is an exciting ballet movie in which Barbie™ stars as Kristyn, the hard-working dancer, who wows the big ballet company in her performance of Giselle and Swan Lake. Through this journey Kristyn learns that when you dance from your heart – your dreams can come true.
Plot: Kristyn is a dancer in a ballet school who
dreams of one day joining an established dance company. She longs to dance as
just like Tara, the troupe’s perennial lead, but no matter how hard she tries,
she always seems add a little something extra to her performance. The troupe is
practicing for a showcase for a major dance company later that day.
After ripping her shoes
in rehearsal, Kristyn’s best friend Hailey, drags her to the costume department
to get some new shoes. Once there, Kristyn discovers a magical pink pair that
takes both her and Hailey into a magical ballet world-ruled by an evil Snow
Queen. Kristyn and Hailey must dance through their favorite ballets to defeat
the Snow Queen and discover a way home in time for the big performance.
Inspired by her magical journey, Kristyn performs the iconic dances of Giselle
and Swan Lake but with her own flourish and wows the big ballet company.
Kristyn learns that when you dance from your heart – your dreams can come true.
