Mom's Guide to TIFF

Whether you used to "do" TIFF in your younger pre-kids days or love watching the media coverage of all the Hollywood glitz here in Toronto for the week - with kids and babies, it's tough to juggle, but there are a few ways you too can enjoy a bit of film festival action.

Daytime Star-Gazing
Want to go for a stroll and see what you can see?  The stars certainly won't be up as early as you, but here are a couple of daytime hot spots if you fancy a look:
Ryerson Theatre, Visa Screening Room (Elgin), Princess of Wales, and Winter Garden Theatre - all offer high profile daytime screenings throughout the festival.  If you want to check out the gaggle of stars and photographers, you can check the schedule and browse films to guess who the likely stars may be here.
Yorkville - why not grab a coffee, park the stroller and hit a bench for a bit of people watching?
Kids Films
This year, TIFF's got 5 films in the program with family films from around the world.  Films are generally from around the world and mostly for the 8+ age group.

What we're going to see:

Khumba
English Language.  Sunday September 8 Scotiabank 13 11:30 AM, Saturday September 14 Scotiabank 13 12:30 PM

This one looks really sweet with a nice message, beautiful animation and a good cast - it's a 3D animated adventure about a young zebra who is missing half his stripes and sets off in search of  a magical watering hole to win the respect of his herd and earn his stripes.

Featuring the voice talents of: Liam Neeson, Laurence Fishburne, Steve Buscemi and Jake T. Austin (Nickelodeon's Wizards of Waverly Place and interestingly the original voice of Diego for in the first few seasons of Dora..)

Other films in the program look great too, but may be for slightly older kids due to sub-titles.

Happy TIFF'ing!
