Ho Ho Ho! Holiday Events for Toronto Kids & Families

Tis the season for holiday festivities around the city!  Kicking off in mid-November, here's a list of some of our picks for activities to check out around the city. 



Sherway Gardens Santa Experience
November 14 - December 22, 2013 
Tuesdays to Sundays (No shows on Monday) 

Five one-hour shows per day to choose from: 9:30am, 11:30am,2pm, 4pm and 6pm.  Recommend you be there 30 min prior to showtime to check in.

Cost:  Tickets cost $12.00 per child (all ages, including infants). Adults may accompany their children at no cost to a maximum of 2 adults per child.   Order online only:  click here  

One of Toronto’s most popular mall Santa destinations, Sherway Gardens has created a Santa experience that is much more than just a long line and a quick photo op.  It has stories, sing-alongs, dancing and sometimes even a visit from Mrs. Claus!  All proceeds go to Sleeping Children Around the World.


Chanukah Discovery Corner
Saturday, November 16, 2013,  Activities 11 am - 3 pm

Co-presented by Today’s Parent.  Experience Chanukah in the ROM's Ancient Greek Galleries. Share the past through stories, access to special objects, games and crafts in this exciting exploration of Jewish culture.  Included with Museum Admission. 
Activity station includes making dreidels and menorahs to take home!


Baby Point Gates - Baby Its Cold Outside

Illuminite, part of Winter Magic
Saturday, November 16, 2013  6pm to 8pm 
Yonge-Dundas Square

Part of Downtown Yonge’s Winter Magic festival, this year’s Illuminate event looks pretty spectacular.  Aerial performances, music, costumes, the lighting of the tree and more.  Our feeling is that this event may be more suitable for families with older children, it might be a bit busy and much for young children.  
Good for moms shopping afternoon/evg out or date night though!


Santa Claus Parade
Sunday, November 17th 2013

The Little Mermaid

A holiday tradition for many families in Toronto is the annual stage musical for families presented by Ross Petty Productions at the Elgin Theatre each year.  This year families can enjoy The Little Mermaid.  Get tickets online here.

We love this one for a stroll that really gets you in the holiday mood.  Inspired by a traditional European Christmas market, it features hand-crafted products, specialty food & beverage, family activity, entertainment and more. Presented by Lowes.

Don’t miss Santa’s House, complete with visits & photo ops, and other special attractions include Santa’s Elves Sing-Along, a daily interactive stage show on the main stage every weekday at 5:00pm and Saturdays and Sundays at 10:30am and 2:00pm.  Be there Dec 5th for the arrival of St Nick on horseback, stories and more. 


Old Town Toronto Cavalcade of Lights

(King and Jarvis)

Old Town Toronto lights up in Berczy Park (Front and Scott Street) and St. James Park (King and Jarvis) with seasonal lights, Victorian Carolers, hot chocolate and hot apple cider.

Plus you’ll find Victorian carolers in this part of town Friday evenings and Saturday midday throughout the holiday season.



Library Tree Decorating Party

Craft Sales are a fun way to get in the holiday spirit and pick up presents or decorations. Our thought is that these aren't really for kids, but  great shopping/browsing and fun for moms alone or with babies (not runners).

Looking for an out-of-town excursion or a mini-family getaway?  Niagara Falls Festival of Lights is a fun one, Niagara Falls is transformed with millions of lights and animated displays, plus activities throughout the holiday & winter season.  Also features TD Rink at the Brink a great outdoor skating facility right next to the falls.
