How to throw a great Backyardigans Party!

This past week we had a blast hosting a Backyardigans Music & Movement event, celebrating the upcoming Backyardigans Sea Deep in Adventure show coming to the Sony Centre this spring.   We had such a great time, we thought we'd share some of our activities so you too can have some great Backyardigans sea-themed fun at home with your preschoolers!

• We found and used lots of fun Backyardigans-themed activities on Nick Jr.com - coloring sheets, Music & Movement Cards, books, crafts, Pin the Glasses on Pablo and more.

• To celebrate the Sea Deep in Adventure theme, we used a parachute (you can use a sheet at home) to create some fun sea-themed play like making waves, pretend swimming, running to catch fish underneath.

Here too are some fun ocean-themed songs to sing:

The Sharks in the Sea: (Sung to "Wheels on the Bus")

The sharks in the sea go chomp, chomp, chomp! (open and shot hands like mouth)

Chomp, chomp, chomp, Chomp, chomp, chomp!
The sharks in the sea go chomp, chomp, chomp!
All through the day!

The fish in the sea go swim, swim, swim (wave hands back and forth sideways)

The crabs in the sea go pinch, pinch, pinch (pinch with thumb and 2 fingers)

The octopus in the sea go wiggle, wiggle, wiggle (wiggle fingers)

The dolphins in the sea go up and down (jump hand up and down)

I’m a Little Fishy: (tune of “Little Teapot”)

I'm a little fishy, I can swim

Here is my tail, here is my fin.

When I want to have fun with my friends,

I wiggle my tail and dive right in

5 Little Fish

Five little fish swimming by the shore.

One got caught, and then there were four.

Four little fish swimming in the sea.

One got caught, and then there were three.

Three little fish swimming in the blue.

One got caught and then there were two.

Two little fish swimming in the sun.

One got caught, and then there was one.

One little fish, swimming for home.

Decided it was best to never roam.
