It's beginning to look a like a lot like Christmas! This week we jumped head first (santa hat and all)into the festivities with a holiday party at The Bizzy Bee Playcentre in the Beaches.
Our gathering had all the ingredients of a super fun and easy holiday party for tots. Here are a few tips to help you throw a quick and simple event for your little ones and their friends this season.
CIRCLE TIME
Every party needs some singing and dancing. We shook up the old circle time standards by adding some Holidays themes and carol favourites to the mix.
Jingle Bells
Frosty the Snowman
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
I'm a Little Snowflake (sing to I'm a Little Teapot)
I'm a little snowflake, fat and round
Falling slowly to the ground
When the snowflakes build up, hear me shout
"Here's a snowball. Better watch out!"
The SNOWkey Pokey (sing to Hokey Pokey)
Put your mittens in, take your mitten out
Put your mittens in and you shake them all about
Do the Snowkey Pokey and you turn yourself around
That's what it's all about
Repeat with boots, hat, snowsuit
HOLIDAY CRAFTS
We made super simple tree ornaments using just cinnamon and applesauce (recipe here) The kids loved painting the trees, and our moms loved watching their little ones make their Christmas keepsakes.
HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES
Keep it simple by having holiday themed colouring sheets with crayons and markers for the little ones to colour their own masterpiece.
SNACKS
When providing snacks for kids, always consider allergies and keep major allergens off the table when possible. Rice Krispie treats, fresh fruit and cheese and crackers are always a hit, relatively mess free and easy for little ones to grab.
We had a wintery blast, and wish you fun and festive wishes for your parties too!
